FAQ
What are your dice made out of?
All my dice are made from clear two-part epoxy resin, but what’s inside them varies greatly! I love to experiment with different materials, but all are tested to ensure they don’t interfere with the curing process.
What about your minis?
I create all of my 3D models from scratch and print them with a UV resin 3D printer in-house!
The set I wanted is out of stock! Will you be making more?
Many of my sets are one-offs or limited runs because I love experimenting and creating new designs. I do have a few that I love to make though, so you can expect my staples to be restocked regularly. (Including Scattered Pages and Mimic D20s)
Where are you based?
Canada! All of my products are made by me, and therefore ship from my home country.
How many people work at the Outpost?
Just me! The Outpost is a one-woman show, fueled by caffeine and my undying affinity for TTRPGs (˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
Where do you get your Masters and Molds?
I design and print all my own master dice, and make the molds from there. This way I have the flexibility to experiment with designs, sizes, and styles to my heart’s content.
Are they balanced though?
My dice are balanced for casual play. Are they casino rated? No. But neither are chessex dice! I want my dice to be not only beautiful, but also functional. I take extra care to ensure that any inclusions have a negligible impact on balance, including those with minis or dioramas inside. Inserts are printed in UV resin with a very similar density to epoxy resin it’s encased in. If any of my dice designs are unbalanced, it will be clearly noted in the product description!
Why are your dice so expensive?
Because they take a lot of time, money, effort, and expertise to make! When you purchase handmade dice, you're not just buying a gaming accessory—you're investing in a unique piece of art. Each set involves countless hours of work, with every step being meticulously crafted by hand.
The process looks a little like this: Design/print/prepare the 3D models for the dice masters (and inserts in some cases) ~2-5 days. Make the silicone molds, 2-3 days. (In some cases) paint the inserts, ~1-5 hours. Cast the dice, ~1 hour. Demold, sand, and polish the dice, ~1-2 hours. Ink the dice, ~30 minutes.
And of course, none of that includes the material cost, running costs, time spent on web work, shipping/packing, bookkeeping, product photography, experimenting with new techniques and designs, and all the other background work that needs to be done! It takes a wide skill set and a great deal of personal investment to create handmade goods like these, and the price reflects that. So if you do choose to purchase from me, thank you!
